   @Griffith I think a hardline stance against new forms of technology, especially ones in their infancy, is a serious societal problem. There's a certain lack of vision that only considers the potential negatives and tends to view all advancement as a risk. A lot of people don't seem capable of considering a society that adapts to technology and ends up looking very different than ours might be a positive. This even applies to a lot of our guys.

     @Hoss @kvit @Griffith 99% chance any "muh regyoulayshons" are just going to make it illegal to compete with openai or anthropic, produce home-made models with public weights, punish people for making memes, and any other sort of regulatory capture

     AI isn't going away regardless of what anybody thinks or whatever legislation they pass. The means to run a bunch of this shit yourself is already out there. You don't close Pandora's Box.
