    @fulelo I know you have no control over this. But I am amazed at how much this change has affected me. I feel a genuine pain in my heart. I remember in the very early 2000s discovering the BBC News feed online. It was mind-blowing for the 11 year old me to find access to the news like that while still on dial-up. BBC has been a constant companion to me throughout my life. The one place I would go trustworthy news. Given what is happening in the US, this is precisely the time we need it. 1/2

      @fulelo P.S. - Thanks again for carrying the torch of the BBC here on Mastodon. Love the Global Jigsaw!

      @fulelo I am saddest about losing access to music programs. I was an avid listener of the traditional folk on Radio 3, Radio Scotland, and Radio NI. I have discovered so many new artists there. Choral Evensong has been a weekly moment of quiet for me. And my worldview was forever altered by programs like "Something Understood." I know that there is money involved and I (perhaps naively) trust that the BBC has been put into a corner. But something precious has been lost by this decision. 2/2

      @simon_lucy @fulelo Yeah, I will listen to the World Service. I am just going to miss these small music programs. They work for now but I assume the access will be cut off by the end of the summer.

      I could be wrong but I don't think a paywall is going to work. Subscription fatigue is very real. I just cannot add another one. Especially for what you are getting for the price. I think if people want to read the BBC they will use VPNs or just switch browsers and delete cookies.

      @fulelo @seanbala

      Whilst it is still available, The World Service provides News, Music saved Cultural broadcasting on radio, TV and online.

      How long this goes on no-one, and it really is no-one knows, as the FCO support has been cut in half as part of the Defence Budget shifts.

      The lack of foresight and miserliness of the Govt is apolitical.

      In the meantime, use the World Service. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBC_World_Service
