Batteries are helping reduce our carbon pollution!

Do you know what arbitrage means in relation to grid-connected batteries?

Arbitrage is a new industry created by our clean energy transition. In general, arbitrage is a battery storage unit charging its batteries during low-price periods and discharging them during high-price periods. Battery operators in the RTO markets of Texas and California collectively accounted for 95% of all arbitrage use case capacity.

    Look at this exponential growth:

But back to Direct Air Capture and Carbon Sequestration, here's some good news too.

Nestle has stopped greenwashing by via "indulgences".

Consumer food behemoth Nestle SA is getting out of the offset market and putting the money it would have spent on those credits toward cutting emissions in its supply chain and operations. It’s also dropping “carbon neutral” pledges for KitKat, Perrier and other Nestle brands, Bloomberg News reported. https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/energy/2023/06/29/kitkats-are-no-longer-carbon-neutral-that-s-good/67aa0018-1670-11ee-9de3-ba1fa29e9bec_story.html

We're making progress and don't let the people selling despair make you give up hope!

Quiet and emissions free, the vessel, named “Sea Change,” marks another crucial milestone in the commercialization of zero emissions marine vessel power. The 70-foot, 75 passenger high-speed ZEF will be the flagship for a planned future fuel-cell powered fleet, transporting commuters around the bay of San Francisco, California (U.S.). #Hydrogen https://www.cummins.com/news/2021/02/09/cummins-fuel-cells-powering-north-americas-first-commercial-zero-emissions-ferry

Speaking of new industries emerging to help stabilize our planet's climate, drawing carbon pollution out of our atmosphere and re-sequestering it for thousands of years is crucial to do after we #ElectrifyEverything renewably with clean energy production and stop burning fossil fuels. This company is buying sequestered carbon if you've got a workable scheme. https://frontierclimate.com/who-we-are

That would be a good thing except that, regarding their water business which is complex enough and I didn't have the time to look at the food businesses, it is the core of their business model. I don't see a possibility to unwind that.
Let me know what you think after the article.

It is good to hear that the company finally wants to do something.

You might want to dig deeper, however.

#Nestlé is one of the worst neocolonial companies, e. g. taking the ground water from communities around the globe and reselling it to the public with big price increases.

      Here's a starting point, the #US:

      https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/oct/29/the-fight-over-water-how-nestle-dries-up-us-creeks-to-sell-water-in-plastic-bottles

If you should still think that's not "too bad," search for the same policy in much poorer African countries.

      This is #greenwashing.

They have announced that they are taking efforts to end the greenwashing they've been doing which is a good thing.
