@h @SuperDicq @Ree In order to be not so impressionable, wouldn't that require having experience/exposure and making the mistakes of being impressionable so that you can learn from it? Even adults on social media can be very impressionable. Marketing has a lot of data about us now too, about how humans function. It seems crazy to me to hear someone come to fedi and leave because they don't have the algo feeding them content that they want or because they expect other people to curate their experience. You tell someone that they can mute or block people that are bothering them and you are the bad guy for some reason. I don't get it. -

@sim@shitposter.world @h@hoorny.nl @Ree@shitposter.world Yes, you bring up another point I want to mention.
I don't think we should just shelter young people from proprietary social media.
I think it's bad for everyone and nobody should use it. -

@Ree@shitposter.world @sim@shitposter.world @h@hoorny.nl I think Peertube is fine, but I personally think video publishing is not social media.
It's a different beast and people shouldn't look at it like solving a social media issue in my opinion.
Let me explain. On a video publishing platform it is very common that 99.99% of users simply watch stuff and don't post anything. Only a very small fraction of users post things, unlike actual social media, where most users post things. -
