Right on! I’m so sorry for what you experienced — and so glad you were out there today too.

Also: how do you like the bike? Looks like a sweet ride!

@inthehands I am really happy with my new bike! All day I was all smiles. Gazelle Ultimate C380+ Midstep. It was impressive how easy it is to ride, considering it was my first time getting around on an e-bike. The place where I found a learning curve was the shifter. I think I need to downshift before heading uphill; I couldn’t if I was already going up, and I wasn’t quite expecting that 😅

Nice! I’ve been seeing a lot of the Gazelles around, and wondered how they ride. I luuuuuuv my Tern and basically take it everywhere (even without cargo), but have been nudging my spouse to consider a non-cargo e-bike. Gazelle seems a likely contender.

The shifter is a continuous one, right? My Tern is the same way, and I was also surprised that I had to stop pedaling for a moment in order to shift. It also felt way too stiff at first. Totally got used to it though; neither bothers me now.

@inthehands It was between the Aventon Aventure 2 and this bike, based on frame size suitability and my biking needs. I wanted a bike I could use to go on little tours around the island and maybe to take the ferry to the San Juans, had a mid-drive motor with a longer lifespan, and Class 1 so theoretically could go on approved trails.

Big fan of the class 1: it just feels so nice, like an extension of the body. And I love the step-through design so much!

How does the riding position feel on the C380? It looks like it’s a pretty upright posture?

@inthehands Yes, the riding posture is upright, but when I was going pretty fast I could still lean into the handlebar. It feels solid, very stable. I went on a fourteen mile bike ride and it wasn’t easy, but it was very doable for someone who is not particularly in very great shape right now.

Nice! 14 miles is nothing to sneeze at. May it bring you much joy! I will pass along these tidbits. It really is kind of hard to explain just how nice the e-bikes feel — all smiles, like you said.

P.S. Unsolicited advice, in case you aren’t already aware: Velosurance is totally worth it if you have a nice bike you love.
