I don't accept swear words in my TL; not even by myself. It is a question of #netiquette.
They don't trigger me, though.
I simply don't boost posts with swear words like the F-word or the S-words.
I don't see who could be triggered by them in the sense you're describing.
While I try to keep in mind what you're describing, and there have been similar discussions about CW, it's also a cultural issue.
I hardly ever swear in my posts but if so, it is with **.

I swear a lot less on Mastodon because the culture is gentler and swearing is less common. But let's face it, sometimes one really must. Coming from twitter I had adopted the habit of using asterisks until I had this explained to me. So now if I need to drop the F bomb I spell it out.
