   We have an increasing number of questions from our Linux community about using Wayland. Our take is that Wayland remains an experimental, evolving idea. It is still missing basic functionality that KiCad users have come to expect. We hope that it continues to improve. But for now, if you need to use KiCad on Linux, we recommend installing X11.

     As far as I know Wayland doesn't support any other key map other than qwerty so it's basically useless for most of the world.

     @kicad wtf?! X11 is barely on life support. All major distributions switched to Wayland as default *years* ago. Ubuntu will remove X11 in 25.10.

     @untsuki @claudius @kicad @bohwaz In fact here X11 means that in nested sessions pressing shift gets me letters from the next variant over (Cyrillic in my case), wayland has no such bug.
