PhantasmSince Apple is a trend setter, the whole UI redesign might be a good thing. I'm quite tired of the whole Material design taken to its logical extreme. I liked Material design first came out and still like the first iteration of it and I will probably still use themes made around it, but it turned into something really ugly with the new Android versions and accelerated the "logo simplification" craze which is progressively getting worse.
Also considering how Win11 turned out, I miss how Vista and Win7 looked. Both probably were peak Windows UI design that will never return. With the classic 9x look being very close.
@vokainen099 I watched WWDC where they talk about it for like 30 minutes and honestly whatever MS did with Vista and 7 looks much better. The edge gloss is too much for my taste and the animations looked awful.
@phnt The Vista/7 aesthetic is usually called "Frutiger Aero", which can be liked or not, but it was coherent.
What I was saying was that current graphics designers, if attempting to do a new frutiger, will go overboard with transparency and glossiness and turn it into the gloss version of material design.
@phnt I like how they're treating tridimensional effects in 2D elements like it's something new, when the original Iphone had those in 2007 already, and they removed those and went flat instead in 2011-2012
They added water-like compositor effects, I guess, but that won't increase responsiveness, it'll probably feel laggy
