🚨 THREAD: What just happened in Los Angeles is not normal, and it differs from past deployments of the National Guard in key ways that you need to understand. This is a breakdown of the history, the playbook, and why this move reeks of bad faith.

Gov. Gavin Newsom and the White House confirm that the federal government is preparing to federalize the National Guard and deploy up to 2,000 military troops in Los Angeles.

The rhetoric ("insurrection") is pre-loaded for escalation, and well-known political operatives who are paid to gin up culture wars are running on all cylinders.
There is no timeline, scope, or sunset clause for the Guard's deployment.

Just vague allusions to “restoring order” and “protecting federal property.”

      The result?
      Communities terrorized
      Public trust shattered
      State sovereignty undermined
      A dangerous precedent set

This is what a power grab masquerading as law enforcement looks like.
      Keep your eyes on this.

This isn’t just a California issue. This is a test balloon for authoritarian federalism. Autocracy comes slowly and then all at once—usually at a time when you are already overwhelmed.

If you see it move from “immigration enforcement” to “riot response” to “restoring order” to “troops necessary,” this is how freedom dies—not in darkness, but in the fog of public safety.

Once federalized under Title 10, the National Guard becomes active-duty military personnel, just like the Army. It would be the use of military force against the state's wishes and without a clear need.

It strips away the governor's authority and puts control squarely in the President’s hands, for a situation he is far removed from, involving people he doesn't know.

The playbook is easy to spot. It’s top-down, unilateral, and involves provocation. That's how you recognize it.

➡️ Provoke unrest through aggressive federal action
➡️ Accuse local leaders of failing to respond
      ➡️ Justify federal military deployment
➡️ Claim constitutional authority through the Insurrection Act (or threat of it)

Let’s call this what it is:
A show of force and potentially a trial to see what powers the President can seize.
It also sends a warning to other states that this is what is to come.

      ICE raids, then militarization.
Local officials cut out of the process.

Federal troops on your streets. Welcome to a police state.

Using militarized immigration enforcement against an "enemy" and then using that enemy as justification for increased military measures is not about public safety. It's an authoritarian strategy.

This is bad faith on multiple levels:
      ICE acted without local coordination.
Federal agents used violent crowd suppression tactics, seemingly before there was ever a need.

There is no formal request for assistance.

Let’s be very clear—this is not crowd control. This would be a federal occupation of a U.S. city.

This follows a massive militarized ICE raid across LA communities—the Fashion District, Home Depot parking lots, residential areas—carried out without local coordination and with heavy use of force.

Flash bangs. Riot shields. Armed federal agents are storming neighborhoods. Even union leader David Huerta was arrested.

And when the public pushed back, DHS claimed that the LAPD didn’t respond quickly enough. Well-known political operatives are spreading chaotic videos, screaming about insurrection. That’s the pretext that creates a police state.

It’s part of a well-worn script, but not one used in the United States.

In 1965 (deployed over a six-day riot) and 1992 (Bush prepared federal help, but ultimately very little was used, and the governor called the shots), the National Guard was deployed at the request of the state.

To federalize the Guard without the governor’s consent—especially when the state is actively opposing the move—is an overt escalation and a red flag for potential abuse of federal authority.
