   I love my dad but he has no idea how shitty the job market is, my sister and brother in law are both struggling to find work on the other side of the state and my dad thinks they just aren't being assertive enough in interviews. He was also giving me the "just walk into a company, ask the manager for a job and give him a firm handshake" routine as recently as a couple years ago.

     Next time you're with him, get him to drive you somewhere. While driving, pull out a cigarette and ask him for the cigarette lighter. When he says cars no longer have those, act surprised and asked when that happened. After he answers, say... things aren't like they were 40 years ago, are they? And then try to find the hand crank to roll down the window.
