I respect that you're willing to put it out there like that. I'm happy to have a productive conversation about this topic, if you want. I'm an atheist, but I wouldn't say I'm starving. I live a very fulfilling life.

Oh, I know you didn't mean it like that. I wouldn't think of engaging if I thought you weren't the type to be respectful. This can be a touchy subject for some, that's why I didn't just go right into it and asked if you wanted to have the conversation. As for me, I wouldn't say I ever 'lost' my faith. I was raised Christian, but never bought it. I started asking questions no one could answer at a VERY young age and never saw enough evidence.

@jacklaridian I've no doubt that that's true, and I'm sorry if I came off as implying that atheists are starving, I only meant it as an example of an all-or nothing paradigm, peppered with some yuk yuk hyperbole.
I respect any earnestly held worldview, and I have a lot of respect for atheists, not least because of the shit y'all take from the right. I've just had a few friends that lost the faith and felt heartbreak that they also had to lose a spiritual lifestyle, and it kills me.
