@eri @wyatt i had a network adapter that had the little spring-out socket like that. Also had a modem that did that. Looks really fragile, and it probably was, but I didn't break either of them. Shit-ton better than those proprietary and lose-able dongles. Then manufacturers starting building RJ ports into laptops and that market vanished, only to reappear in recent years when modems and network plugs started vanishing when people still needed them.

@eri @wyatt oddly, that laptop has two RJ sockets right there, so I'm not sure why they needed this one, which looks like it could be ExpressCard/34.
