One of my neurodiversity traits that came free with my autism is that I don't understand why people actually care about "spoilers" in media.
Like I really don't understand get how a book, movie or videogame can suddenly become uninteresting to interact with just because "they already know how it ends".
To me knowing all the plot points beforehand doesn't make a work of art any less impressive. I still want to interact with it and get the full experience.
I don't think knowing details beforehand changes anything about how I experience the work of art. If it's well made I can get immersed into it anyway. I can also still get just as immersed in things that I've already fully experienced before.

@koakuma@uwu.social I personally prefer to know details about something beforehand so I know if I will probably like it or not.
I know a lot of people who say "it's good" about things that I am not actually going to like.
I prefer not to waste time interacting with things that I didn't end up liking because I started it without knowing anything about it. -

@SuperDicq Because I want to get into something with *absolutely zero* preconceived notions about it?
Like even people recommending me some media "because it's good" or some equally vague reason is enough to get me to hold off getting into it until I forget that that piece was even recommended to me in the first place
Things like that?

@koakuma@uwu.social Yeah I mean I think it's something autistic maybe. I also have some friends who I can only convince to watch something if I spoil it beforehand.
I see interacting with media just like any other activity where I want to see specific things.
Like for example I go to a car show because I enjoy looking at cars. It's not like the car show is less enjoyable because I knew there was going to be cars there beforehand. -

@SuperDicq To me the entire process that goes into figuring out that some media is/is not for me is an enjoyable thing in itself so I don't consider it wasted time
Just different perspective I guess~

@eal@post.ebin.club I like rewatching/reading things I've already experienced, but it's a different kind of funI usually think this type of fun is a lot more fun than watching something for the first time.
So if you look up spoilers you can go straight to the "rewatching" type of fun. -

@SuperDicq I'm one of those people highly susceptible to spoilers.
It doesn't exactly make things uninteresting but rather ruins -- "spoils", even -- the experience of going through something plot heavy. While watching/reading/playing I constantly think about and anticipate the spoiled detail and it's difficult to just enjoy the current scene.
Part of the fun in stories is thinking about where it's going and seeing if you were right (think detective stories), spoilers take this fun away from you.
Some plot moments are also meant to have surprise or shock value (death of an important character, someone's identity is revealed, etc.) and if you already know it, the impact is dull.
I like rewatching/reading things I've already experienced, but it's a different kind of fun (spotting details you missed on the first pass, gaining deeper understanding, und so weiter). -

@eal@post.ebin.club Even with sex I must say that virgin sex kinda sucked. I had a lot more fun experiences with sex as an experienced adult.
