     @TheBreadmonkey Yes, you are correct about the biblical Onan. The sin was spilling his seed upon the ground. #Onanism is also a euphemism for excessisve masturbation, which doctors well into the 20th century thought was really debilitating for the wanking man.

     Never thought about the etymology of onanism before and assume it's from Onan who is apparently famed for pulling out at the point of climax whilst fucking his sister in law and jizzing on the floor so god murdered him. Sometimes I wonder if I should read the Bible as it sounds like it might be a laugh.

     @TheBreadmonkey As I recall, Alex, the protaganist of Anthony Burgess's novel Clockwork Orange, enjoyed reading the Old Testament because of all the "old in-out" and juicy ultraviolence all the patriarchs got up to.
