I think it was all a scam and they knew it. Like a proto-hippy commune. They went into the territory, so they wouldn't be subject to state law, only federal, which allowed them to hide behind the first amendment. At that time, Am XIV and the incorporation doctrine weren't a thing.

Said it was gold tablets with missing sections of the Bible that angels lead him to 😏 if it were true he could have produced the gold tablets, or at least have them made to support his claims. They all just took his word for it. Goes to show that it doesn't matter what the people collectively believe. Most of all of its fantastical bullshit. The whole point of it is, it's a glue that holds a community together. That's where all the spirituality and blessings come from. If you're all alone, no community, no nothing in your corner. You'll find out real quick what all this is

People took his word for it the very same way the rest of the faith havers did with NO evidence provided to the claims except for a book 😏 that's all it's ever been
"So all that stuff is true huh?"
"Yep, every bit of it"
"Well, do you have any proof?"
"No! God! Why would you even ASK for such a thing!? That isn't what the book tells you to do, that isn't what faith is!"
"Oh, ok. Well I guess it's true then. I'll take your word for it"
"So, I'll see you at church Sunday?"
"I guess so"

The Mormons say that Joseph Smith, the founder of the LDS Church found the Book of Mormon under a rock. God led him to it, they say. Under a rock.

I should become a Mormon 😏 their economic situations always look way better than the rest of the churches. They're like the jews, well, used to be until they started accepting diversity and changed some of their tenets because the jews subverted them too with the 501C3 (((Loophole))) where government can interfere with religion
