You don't want to pay for prisoners? Then don't imprison them.

@LukeAlmighty I didn't know Vaush favored the death penalty.

Don't be so cruel... Bring back some good old merciful whipping.
@LukeAlmighty I think torture like that might break more international laws than capital punishment... so it'd be harder to implement.
@alyx
Yet, you cannot possibly tell me any argument, that would convince me, that it's less humane then locking them into a bbox for 13 years.
@LukeAlmighty Depends. There are some really fucked up forms of torture out there. Can't remember where I heard this from, but there are some bastards that would whip the sole of the victim's feet, and the damage and pain would be so excruciating that it would make it impossible for someone to walk for a long time.
And at the same time, put someone in solitary confinement for 13 years, and you utterly destroy someone.
There's degrees of bad on both sides, and in some cases prison might be better, and in others torture might be better.
@alyx
My point is, that if you can (although in huge pain) resume your life tomorow, there is hope for you to reintegrate.
But after 13 years among criminals? Huge part of your life is gone. For women, this can mean the entire rest of fertile window for instance. And you cannot get a decent job anyway. Your entire social network will be already far gone etc......
