   @Linux The report is just about the software version. I don't think Tim Cook's Apple will ever include the year in the product name as they sell old products for many years with little to none changing in price.

   For example right now Apple directly sells the Mac Pro 2019, the iPhone 2023, the AirPods Max 2020 in the US, and many other devices in different countries or via resellers.

     It will help identify the generation.
     
     But that mindset will also help promote planned obsoleting, since they can more easily say, "your system is 3-5 years old".
