latex is unironically worse than libreoffice
it has none of the advantages that it could derive from being text based instead of WYSIWYG. it's unpredictable and inconsistent as shit. it's huge, slow bloatware. it's the opposite of simple and painless.-

@lizzy \LaTeX{} is unironically better than libreoffice.
It has all the advantages it could derive by being text-based and if you wanted a GUI for a laugh, there is software like Texstudio.
It's quite predictable and consistent in overflowing.
It's not that slow and not bloatware - most of the size is not seemingly software, rather templates.
It's simple and painful and you get the most beautiful documents out. -

typst feels like a good alternative to some extent. it has some amounts of corpo and walled-garden vibes to it tho so i want to give it more time before deciding if this is actually a good direction to head in -

@Suiseiseki @lizzy texinfo is better for hypertext, use troff for normal typesetting instead 翠星石 likes this. -

@takao @lizzy Don't use that proprietary typesetter - use groff; https://www.gnu.org/software/groff/
