    #deltachat Desktop can now run on #Firefox and Safari, entirely avoiding #Electron and Chromium! It's an intended side-effect of the "porting Desktop to #Tauri" effort led by @treefit which aims to provide a non-Electron packaged version of the Desktop. Here is a video and deep dive into what's working on regular browsers now, and what's missing for a full Web version: https://delta.chat/en/2025-05-22-browser-edition

      @ambiguous_yelp you do not need to fear quantum computers right now, as even if one existed beyond anything we've been able to dream up it still couldn't crack AES for decades and requires perfect stability of its electrical source and temperature control to a millionth of a degree the entire time or it affects the ability to observe the state of the qubits.

      @delta @treefit I want to move away from simplex because its owned by fascists, but afaik its the only decentralised messenger to use post quantum encryption, if you can add that and the extreme anonymity simplex affords with unique ids/addresses for every group and dm u join then you will be a serious contender for the most private and anonymous and robust messenger, with the added benefit of not being owned by fascists like simplex (I would hope at least)

      @ambiguous_yelp 5-10 years away every year and we need at least 20 million quality stable qubits to do anything useful

      @feld Famous last words
      "
      This is an urgent threat to society writ large but also specifically to the military, given the importance of secure communication and secure information for defence and security. To counter this threat, we will have to completely upgrade all our secure digital infrastructure using cryptography that is ‘quantum-resistant’, i.e. secure against both quantum and classical computers.
