Try killall(1) not being in base system and having to install psmisc separately.

@mint @veinglory It doesn't come with ed because Debian continues to labor under the idiot GNU conceit that the shell will be used by normal people.

@mint @veinglory Go outside and explain fedi or Tor to the first person you see. You have a pretty good chance of being able to follow their explanation of what they do with their free time; the converse is not true.

That's not what a normal person would say.

@p @veinglory Currently, physically nearest people to me are workers of semi truck chop shop and I'm sure I won't understand much if they start explaining their pastime to me as well.

> Most of the nerd shit we do can be explained to laymen through metaphor,
You can kind of explain it but they won't get it. Most people can't process analogies.
> Fedi is mini twitters with different themes connected together and you can pick whichever one you want,
Twitter *still* has trouble understanding how it works, even with the "It's like email". The 1% of Gablins that understood are already here, so it's 0% there now. You still get people from Spinster that say shit like "IF YOU AREN'T A RADFEM WHY ARE YOU EVEN ON THIS WEBSITE".

@p @mint I mean, the broad strokes wouldn't be that difficult to explain. Fedi is mini twitters with different themes connected together and you can pick whichever one you want, and tor is blindfolded note passing instead of going straight to the website. Most of the nerd shit we do can be explained to laymen through metaphor, the only they the average person lacks is domain knowledge. Obviously if you autistically describe onion routing and activity pub while using nothing but jargon people are gonna check out.

Well, I just meant that they ask these stupid questions.

@p @amphidamant @mint OK well at that point we're in the realm is digital sovereignty apologetics which is a little different than just surface level understanding of the tech subjects themselves.
As an aside, I did have a debate with a coworker about whether people should be allowed to have encryption that the government can't crack. When I said "you could be committing crimes in your house right now. We should have a camera in every room you have."
"Well my family does have 6 Alexas so..."
Just thinking about that conversation is making my blood pressure spike.
