You cannot turn that stuff off - microsoft will go reset any settings changes you make eventually and continue to show you proprietary ads.

No, you cannot beat microsoft - they beat you digitally in a one sided beating.

I came up with the perfect analogy for ads on windows when talking to a friend who isn't into computers, at all.
You have a rough day at work, so you just wanna sit at your work bench in your garage and make stuff. Sharpen tools, nail things into wood and when you're in the zone and finally forgetting about all the troubles of the outside world, a dude breaks into your space and
HEY I HAVE A LIMITED TIME OFFER FOR HAMMERS, YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS and the guy just drops a bunch of pamphlets on whatever you're working on.
You can beat the shit out of him, you can even set up traps so nobody else can bother you, but the damage is already done. You have to go back to square one, just trying to chill where you make stuff.
It's like microsoft wants you to hate them.
