@ayo It was looking great until I saw the MIT expat license.
Isn't the IP/Country database absolutely proprietary and erroneous and Gentoo not supporting it not a bad thing? -

Yes, Gentoo loves supporting the proprietary version and not supporting the free version. -

@Suiseiseki libloc is the most free offline location database I'm aware of, the lib is LGPL and database CC-BY-SA-4.
Gentoo still offers the libmaxminddb-based geoip feature, but that is fully proprietary.
