   @chgowiz @kimlockhartga They're not just asking for it, they're SUBSIDIZING it. The reason "smart TVs" are so cheap is that the shitware companies are paying to have their services included in a non-customizable firmware image. You need to charge higher prices for a product with fewer features, to mitigate a risk that only tech nerds understand... so the hoi polloi get spyware appliances.

     You know what, companies? I am not going to buy your appliance if you make it connect to the internet. I don't need my toaster or coffee maker to be WIFI enabled. I'll just do without. I can't be the only one. Who is asking for this?
