   FYI, when I purchase a laptop, I'm purchasing a laptop, not fish and chips. So please don't send me laptops wrapped in newspaper. Thank you.

   If I want fish and chips, I need only walk across the street from where I work.

   Same goes for send-ins. Please properly package your laptops when sending them to me :)

     Also, modern fish and chips don't even get wrapped in newspaper these days. The practise was abolished in the 80s due to health concerns from ink/lead getting in the food.

     The practise was done in the old days due to paper shortages. Some places still do it for nostalgia, but they put a protective layer between the food and the newspaper.

     A lot of British things were designed due to shortages. Fish and chips became popular in WW2 due to food rationing, which did not apply to potatoes and fish.

     @libreleah Isn't paper an appropriate shock absorber? 🤔 Most people don't have that much bubble wrap lying around to fill a whole box with a laptop in it, and you never know how much those boxes will be abused in shipping.

     I once even used empty plastic bottles since they were squishy (which, in Germany, is even somewhat of a donation due to the "Pfand" system, lol).
