   Everyone gets poop on their hands at some point. You wash your hands. Cool, all good.

   ....but at a point in time, soap handn't been invented yet. So when that happened, that's it, you just had those germs on you forever.

   This is pretty high on my list od reasons why there's a limit on how far back I'd be willing to time travel.

   I'm not sure it's normal to have given it so much thought.

     @hazelnot How long is that going to last? And every surface and food is contaminated by those who not only don't have soap, but don't yet understand they need it!

     @hellomiakoda tbf back in those times, germs weren't a thing as far as anyone knew. Once you washed off the poop in a stream, and you can't see or feel the poop anymore, you are now clear to drink out of that same stream by cupping those same hands.
