@Griffith @BowsacNoodle @sickburnbro This isn't really wrong logically, and there absolutely are Christians who *do* just sort of use their faith as a crutch. It gets advertised like that, and that's a real problem.
The argument against this point, however, is to point out the existence of the few who have directly encountered God.
I do not know how to explain it, but when you encounter such a person it is VERY OBVIOUS that they have had such an encounter. To call what they have "faith" is an insult to their experience - they know, and there is simply no shaking it. Someone who is young may not have encountered such people, and someone who has absolutely no spiritual ability may not notice them when they present themselves. However, they undeniably exist. They do not *fill* the pews, but they are occasionally present and should not be ignored.
