I'm barely managing to sleep at least 7h nowadays, but I don't feel that much better even when sleeping this much

@solidsanek I feel the best with a full workday (7.5h) of sleep

@eal I've been sleeping around 5~6h every night for years, but I'm trying to change that and oh boy it is not easy. I'm also aiming for 7~8h of sleep currently

@solidsanek There's something with REM cycles where you have to get full ones and if you wake up inbetween it feels worse than if you'd woken up a bit earlier
6 hours is okay-ish for me, 7 is bad, 8 is good, 10 is overkill but when I get 10 I really /needed/ 10... something like that.

@len Usually when I get 10 hours of sleep, it means I've been really sleep deprived for some time (when I run on 4~5h of sleep for a few days for example)
I do wake up naturally (since I actually reach that point where I cannot sleep no matter how much I force myself) so I'm assuming I'm waking up after a full one

@len my efforts to sleep more/better actually involved making sure my room is completely dark, avoiding screens 30~60 minutes before going to bed, only using the bed to sleep (therefore not using my phone in bed), and more. I was thinking of getting a sleep mask to make sure not even a bit of light could affect my sleep yeah.
I used to not even bother closing my curtains and letting myself wake up with the sunlight, but it's a bit more of a pain during summer for obvious reasons

@solidsanek hmm, something that happens to me (because I haven't invested in blackout curtains and I've lost my sleep mask) is that I get woken up by light. And light does not care about where you are in REM :cirno_cry: You might have ruled that out already but thought I'd mention in case.
Sleep is hard and I wish you lots of luck in figuring it out!

@solidsanek If I did that in summer I'd always wake up at like... 4am... ... ... I should really prioritise getting that sleep mask back, I'm already waking up at 5-6 accidentally, room is on the side where the sun comes up so it'll get really bad soon :blobcat_ohnoes:
Hearing can do it too, but earplugs can be super annoying so I only do that if I absolutely need to.
There's also a frustrating balance that sleep plays with ambient stress and physical exhaustion and I still haven't figured that one out :puppycat_flop:
