   In theory, the US branches of government were meant to be antagonistic to each other. The hope of the Founders was that the branches would protect their spheres.

   Congress could easily take the Tarrif powers away. But they won't. Republicans are too afraid of Trump to cross him. And Democrats really have no levers to pull. And even if Congress wanted to, they would need 2/3 vote to override a veto. Ezra Klein calls it thr NPC - Non-Player Congress. 😂

     Note too all of Trump's actions have been done by Executive Orders. He has not submitted them out of a theory of presidential power but also because he would not win if there was a vote.

     Also, great point about how the rest of the world will be just fine.

     On a similar vein, the only thing that gives me hope about climate stuff is that no matter how stupid the US is, the rest of the world will move on and keep innovating.
