   My therapist advised looking into job fair stuff to help with my job search except literally none of these fairs are helpful to me.

   Its all about building a resume, and getting your references together.

   I HAVE NO RESUME OR REFERENCES. I have not worked in over a DECADE and my one previous boss who didn't fire me retired from her position years ago.

     @Rasp You can't ask your previous boss to be a reference? I dunno if you were on good terms but her being retired doesn't mean she can't be your good word.
     Honestly though I wish I could be optimistic, but my bitch-ass failed to find a job under arguably better circumstances and ended up caving to work using connections.

     Only other thing I can think of is making something like a portfolio for whoever you want to hire you.
     I assume you're not trying to work in the service industry.

     Yes you would. Please do that. There are people that write trashy erotic novellas for middle aged women in troubled marriages. If nothing else, you'll basically have evidence for your quality of writing.
