I disabled the Y*utube app on my phone when it kept auto playing videos (not even shorts full videos) about a month ago, I have exclusively been using pipewire (and pipepipe).

Like he talks about how MiG fuel gauges weren't "fuel gauges" they were "pointing devices" in the sense that they'd be set to what the fuel levels were post-fueling and then count down based on a rate vs. actually indicating how much fuel was in the tanks. And he jokes about how he could set this gauge to whatever he wanted to in flight to make himself feel better about how much fuel was on board.
I have around 400 hours behind a BE-36-A36 Bonanza and that's exactly how the fuel was accurately measured on it. ---You'd know how much you started with, and you'd calculate consumption conservatively based on a certain rate per hour and subtract. E.g.: I know I have (for example) 40 gallons of fuel on board, 20/side. If I'm burning 12 gal/hr of fuel, and I switch tanks every 30 minutes, then every 30 minutes I'll subtract 6 from 20. And that's how I'll gauge my consumption and endurance. That's not abnormal whatsoever. The Soviets weren't weird or lax by designing aircraft systems that way.

There's this YouTube channel where they post shorts from a dude who used to fly US-captured MiGs during the Cold War and he always talks shit about them as though the Soviets did weird and wacky things……but, half the stuff he talks shit about is just normal airplane stuff that isn't bizarre whatsoever.
