     You can just like make your own internet culture and choose who you want to interact with? This possibility is still here and never went away?

     @SuperDicq I mean fedi has a lot of the same fundamental issues as algorthmic social media, it just moves slower and is more dependent on old fashioned manual human sociological intervention. the problem is that there are too many fucking people online and there's no barrier to entry of any kind so we're in a state of constant Eternal September because no one ever gets called a faggot anymore for acting like a faggot instead of lurking before posting
