It's really not discussed enough how neutered modern computers are without an internet connection. Even Linux is basically hard coded to expect it for fairly simple things.

@RK7 You can remove all forms of networking from the kernel but your init system may not like not having an internet stack.

@nyanide It's moreso so much software wants a network connection. Windows has the slight advantage of it being easy to just drop a bunch of binaries on a hard drive, but it's needed to be activated online for over 20 years now.
Meanwhile with Linux, it generally wants everything to be in a repo so you kinda need edit the package manager config files and download everything beforehand

@RK7 Debian and Slackware probably provide avenue for completely offline upgrades of the system, plus Slackware makes you go out of your way to build third party packages or provide prebuilt ones yourself. LFS doesn't even have a package manager...
You're not wrong but it's not really, so bad, you know?

@RK7 @nyanide yeah, that was my experience when I didn't have internet but could get pkgs from an internet cafe. But I had windows disks and i could install my games and windows 7 with them
