     @pwm @hn50 I feel like, you know, like my server logs, right? That's me using my computer to write down what has happened to my computer. But embedding an analytics package in an application or a webshit, that's enlisting someone else's computer as a snitch, and the amount of effort people put into blocking it, like, clearly no one wants it.

     @p @hn50 I have hosted my own, some of the insights that you can generate are interesting, like who goes where from what on the site, but you can clean that from logs and IP addresses mostly, the tracking pixel, even if self-hosted doesn't help a ton

     doing filter at the edge (e.g. killing all requests for /admin.php, anything else that will 4xx) will give you better optics into patterns. speaking of patterns. i've found the best balance of things to be isolating service-level logging output to a service level log. access requests i null route. no logs, no *

     @p @jae @pwm @hn50 I know I have another one that is physics related and one that is about language package managers, but they are probably buried in the other 12K from Husky I collected over 4 years. One day I'll run it through OCR and sort it in some way. But since I already have 2K files in my shitpost/meme folder, it might already be time for a local booru or some custom tagging. The filenames as tags method is starting to fall apart.
