web+activitypub: is not my idea, that FEP was submitted by @jenniferplusplus. You can view proposal metadata by clicking on a small arrow button above the title - unfortunately Codeberg doesn't display this section by default due to a bug.

    Also:

    >Solving migration pain
    >Now, as far as I know, Mastodon doesn’t have any capabilities like that, nor does any other Fediverse software.

Streams and its fork Forte have data portability over ActivityPub. These Fediverse servers use portable identifiers, it's a bit similar to what you describe, but with additional cryptographic assurances that posts on different servers belong to the same person: https://codeberg.org/fediverse/fep/src/branch/main/fep/ef61/fep-ef61.md

In which I claim that a few annoying #Fediverse problems (and ATproto too) could be solved by using URI schemes the way they’re designed to be used: https://www.tbray.org/ongoing/When/202x/2025/04/16/Decentralized-Schemes

@timbray love this and fully agree. I had followed this since Eugen’s comment you referenced on sketchy browser support - has anyone documented in detail browser compatibility today though? It might be far better now.

@timbray I recently started an initiative to get web+ap (aka https://fedilinks.org/ by @SoniEx2) support in various apps. My plan is to get at least open and autolink (making the URIs clickable in plain text) support and if/when that has some adoption clients will have an easier time to generate and use those links too.
#Conversations_im has support for linking (including fallback). Fedilab has support for opening. There is an issue for Tusky (https://github.com/tuskyapp/Tusky/issues/5027)

      Help me spread he word!
