I think the generative algos that are replacing artists are going to actually start replacing artists, but not at the obvious level, but at the assets
when you need something generic for a game to fill some niche background space, that's where this shit is going to shine
"finish it for me" could take a lot of person-hours out of productions and with it, the food in the plate of the people who used to do that

@root @efi this may be far fetched but in the very long term if neural networks can just do everything that's digital then digital work on a computer in general will lose all commercial value.
If anyone can create anything with a prompt then there's no reason to get any software or media from any commercial entity including big corporations.
It's starting with the smallest of artists and slowly climbing up the food chain. Eventually it'll make the assets themselves worthless unless you own unique data or something that's hard to get to but is somehow needed by the market.
So in the very long term executives are cutting their own branch, except they're sitting at the trunk so everyone else is feeling the tree falling first.Haelwenn /элвэн/ :triskell: likes this. -

@efi the worst part is there won't be a way to stop it, only fight against it or creating things that prevent them from working or whatever. since the ball is already rolling thanks to google's 2018 release or whatever of those whatevers that started this bullshit lol

yes, techbros want the machine to do the entire thing, but there will be more savvy people that will be more moderate, and that's where it will really do damage

@efi @root I think it'll happen sooner than we think but the answer is still the same - we need to reconsider pure capitalism as a social foundation and start valuing people as people instead of their working capacity.
Whats the point of automating labor if we still expect people to labor to live?Haelwenn /элвэн/ :triskell: likes this. -

@Polychrome @root yeah, but that might take centuries, whereas killing arts may be only a decade away
