   The information I can find is conflicting.
   So, those who know #PS3...
   I have a BC fat. It runs, it plays.
   Should I enjoy it as is till it stops working and then delid to fix overheating, or should I take the risk of delidding to PREVENT overheating?
   I'm leaning towards the latter, as all of these WILL overheat eventually, and hot chips are bad.
   I am terrified of working on this thing. I got it for an insane deal a while back.

     I got it for under $200, fully working.
     Reads discs, plays 1, 2, and 3. Barely any scrstches, and all that is missing is the cover for the hard drive slot and the strip of chrome below the USB ports. It even has the flash slot door intact.

     I know what I have and I want to be extremely careful with it - but it sitting here collecting dust cause I'm afraid to break it is not how it should live.

     I wish I had a skilled nerdy friend with really good fine motor skills. As I said, I am terrified of performing this process.
     I mean, I've worked on a smart watch in my life... but there are plenty of smartwatches out there. No gaming history is lost if I oops a smart watch

     Oh I could replace disk drives all day, at speed. That level of tech repair I'm confident AF at. I've refurbed quite a few consoles.
     Delidding though... Oops isn't jerry rigging a ribbon connector. Oops is "Where the fuck do I find a new PS3 chip, or a PS2 chip for PS3, and how TF do I ball solder this?!"

     @hellomiakoda Me and a spawn replaced the drive on our wii a while back... it was exactlty tense and hair-raising, we just went slow. gained a tiny fraction of confidence in that fjner electronic realm. Was that or no disc reader though lol. I'd say "worth it"!!
