Last plasma cutter from the bargain bin, €95 with two marzipan croissants.
After trouble with the airline being too small and the big one not fitting, hooking it up directly to the compressor worked well.
Good test cuts on sheet metal, but then a problem and the nozzle melted.
Pressure switch on the compressor hung and air supply had dropped to nothing.
Got spare nozzles, but it started raining so I had to reel in the extension cord.
Next: Fix compressor, retry 😐

@piggo You can also make angle grinder stands from old broken mitre saws or a couple things you welded together and then get straight cuts that way.

@piggo Basically three ways to cut steel for different purposes:
0. Hack saw to cut small parts occasionally (this doesn't count because you go nuts very soon)
1. Angle grinder to cut steel almost straight
2. Chop saw to cut steel straight, but $$$ and can only do that one thing and maybe 45° sometimes
3. Plasma cutter to cut non-straight shapes, curves, artwork, excavator thumbs, use templates or strap onto a CNC machine (someone on youtube actually did exactly that with the Lidl thing).

@piggo It's a lot slower and unlike the bandsaw, hacksaw blades wear mostly in one area.

@piggo Now that is an actual powered hacksaw. They're mostly from before bandsaws became available. Never seen one in the wild. Not sure why you'd want that specifically, unless you happen to have inherited a trailer full of hacksaw blades or something.
