    If you are in the thick of some institution that is complying with fascism, and if you fell there’s just nothing you can do from where you sit to stop it, you have no power at all…

    …there is one thing you might be able to do to help: keep records.

    Write down what happens — contemporaneous notes of the who, what, when, where, how — in a safe place your organization cannot delete out from under you. Just store it away.

    It might matter one day. Heaven willing.

      Think of those ICE officers hiding their faces while they kidnapped students. They don't want us to remember.

      Think of those Avelo airlines employees who didn't think they were signing up for those — but see the names and the faces.

      Think of what meticulous records meant in the Nuremburg trials.

      This is important, when we film police and ice agents abusing people make sure you film them, the agents, not the people. This comes from the rapid response trainings. These videos are taken to be used in court. Any videos of people can be mischaracterized and misrepresented. Remember, we are dealing with sociopaths. But get the cop faces. Names, badge numbers, anything you can. Get their shoes if you need to. Get it all. But not us. Film them.

      @hllizi @inthehands @FranceskaMann

      Worthwhile, as long as it's a secret journal you keep for your lawyer's discovery. Also with a loyalty oath to O'Brien like that it wouldn't even take renting Charrington's attic to get caught. Minimize contact that's with your fascist bosses.

      Don't comply in advance. In this case it means don't forget in advance. /gen

      @inthehands Winston kept a diary, and where did that get him? Room 101. Still, I agree.

      @inthehands One thing you see all the time when regimes fall is people desperately trying to destroy mountains of printed records that would take days to shred, and lighting them on fire would alert the revolutionaries with the smoke.
      The tyrants and their lackeys know that these files are the ropes from which they will hang.
