   This all being said, i do get and share the frustration in following scenario:

   X: hey thing bad help me

   Me: ok heres how: bla

   X: ok thanks

   ...

   X: hey thing2 bad help me

   Me: did you try bla

   X: no i saw thing2 and went with it instead

   Me: screaming inside why do you keep asking for advice if you dont even bother applying it

     To be honest people would use Linux way more if it was installed by default on many devices. That's really it.

     So the education is best served for those who have any interest in computers or gaming in the first place.

     I have a friend who hopped to linux side recently. I then asked him again lately if he is still using it. He said no and we ended up discussing why: game modding. Most mod tools are for windows, and even on windows they can be super janky.

     Anyway, i think its entirely valid. I dont judge or belittle that.

     He did mention he wants to try again some other day, so that's a win. It just wasnt now.

     I did the same thing when i started, heh.

     It's ok to not make any changes. It's ok to ignore this completely.

     But education will never be waste. It will always be useful. Maybe they won't switch software, but they may talk to a friend who will.

     In the world of "AI" slop, education is more important than ever.

     It shouldn't be "FOSS evangelization."

     It should be "FOSS education."

     Teach people about potential alternatives. Teach people what the spyware software does: Do not judge for them using it, judge the software using them. Then talk about software that respects them.

     Allow them to make their own choices on matters.

     At the very least, if you're not a judgemental annoying asshole, they will ask you for advice when need to be.

     Be a friend.
