In my quest to free myself of the (American) corporations (man), I keep coming back to NextCloud for syncing/photos/calendars. But it feels like the WordPress of cloudy things, which makes me feel like it would be a mistake... help me out here, people!

@john@sauropods.win Nextcloud is nothing like Wordpress. I highly recommend Nextcloud but I don't recommend Wordpress.
They really have nothing in common except both being mostly written using PHP, which doesn't mean anything. -

@john honestly, much as I'm not a fan of Ubuntu in general, I took the lazy route and deployed Nextcloud via Snap on a server and it's just quietly kept itself updated for the past four years or so.
Even migration from a VPS to a VM on my own server hardware was pretty trivial.
