     Living in a world of nation states and global orders, weʼve scaled up a lot of terminology born in an era of face-to-face interactions between individuals and small groups — largely uncritically.

     Consider the idea of “trusting” an HTTPS certificate authority. We supposedly “trust” them to secure our financial interactions. But most people arenʼt even aware they exist.

     What if your CA was someone you knew personally, and they only vouched for websites owned by people they knew personally?
