   Groceries in Japan are extremely expensive, which might lead you to assume that Japanese seniors receive decent pensions. However, this 80-year-old woman, who was caught stealing a large amount of groceries from a supermarket, lives on just 10万円 a month — roughly 55,000 RUB. It's no wonder she's forced to steal food just to get by. #japan #theft

     Some items are less expensive than other countries, some are more expensive (rice is oddly expensive), but I wouldn't describe it as "extremely expensive", just your typical corporate profiteering.
     
     
     Giving someone a pension of only 10,000円 a month if they don't have plenty of money saved is merely letting them starve more slowly.
