Also.. why does "everything have to work off percentages"? Some costs are fixed, others are variable. I don't think this asshat can math.

I also have trouble believing Nike's entire margin is $5.

I just don't think he guy knows what he's talking about. The math is a bit more nuanced. Production and freight are fixed. Insurance probably wouldn't change since it's typically an unbrella per incident coverage, and not based on the value of any particular load. Taxes should decrease if profit margin is less.

The way I see it, this is just a proganda piece intended to justify larger profit margins, while blaming it on tariffs.

Yes, I was just simulating the justification the negro OP would have been most likely to use. Even with a larger sales tax on the item at check out, that's the customers expense, shouldn't be cutting into projected profits.

I just realized too that insurance wouldn't increase for another reason, there's no tarrifs on goods lost at sea and the policy would cover the cost of the goods and the profits expect (which are apparently lower). So insurance should decrease if it doesn't others stay the same for umbrella coverage.

@Humpleupagus @hn50 I don't think he can write either. Both those diagrams represent the same scenario (no tariffs) and only differ in showing the retailer vs. manufacturer perspective, but are presented in different paragraphs that lead you to believe something in the equation has changed.
Also, "Everyone needs to fixed percentage to avoid losses".

Yeah. I noticed that after I posted. My mind was looking at the graphs incorrectly. And he's absolutely wrong in everything shifts based an percentages. That's fundamentally wrong.
