@nugger @EssentialUtinsil My company pretty much does anything not to use robot arms on the packaging lines. Not that we don't offer those, but they are all for some lower medium scale edge cases where they replace multiple machines. I seen one maybe once every few years, and never on any major project.
For anything fast and reliable you want more machines making simpler movements whenever possible.
Depends on the industry, of course.

I MAINTAIN THESE ROBOTS
YOU NEED AN ARMY OF PEOPLE GOING AROUND MAINTAINING THE ROBOTS BECAUSE THEY LOOOOOOOOVE SMASHING THEMSELVES AND THE PARTS
THERE'S A CONSTANT WORK IN PROGRESS OF MINIMIZING TOOL BREAKAGE BY TWEAKING PROGRAMS AND MAKING SURE ALL THE PARTS ARE TIGHT
OH YEAH
DID I MENTION THE ROBOTS CONSTANTLY WALK OUT OF ZERO AND HAVE TO BE CHECKED BY A RAT PERSON WITH A SET OF GAUGES AND CALIPERS AND THEN ADJUSTED BACK INTO ACCEPTABLE TOLERANCES BY A MACHINE GUY
YOU CAN REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF ROBOT SMASHING AND RE-ZEROING BY AUTOMATING CERTAIN FINICKY AND SMASHY AND ZERO-DRIFTING PROCESSES (SUCH AS GRABBING A BLANK AND PUTTING IT INTO THE MACHINE AND PRESSING A BUTTON TO MAKE THE MACHINE GO) WITH THE USE OF A NEW AND INNOVATIVE 80IQ MEAT ROBOT THAT COSTS LESS
