     I'm not sure about 95 vs. XP. It's been a long time and my memory is fuzzy. It will run in dosbox though, and dosbox can be ran on a raspberry pi. I'm not sure about performance. It would probably work for applications. Don't know about games.

     easy gaming with no update issues is needed

     There's a 98-Lite out there that's been hacked to remove all traces of Internet Explorer and other bullshit, if that can be found anymore.
