Wondering if I should just put in an offer on a house right now with the assumption that rate cuts will come soon

@professionalbigot69 No, my job is away from family and I was unable to find a decent job near them. Although I found sort of a Goldilocks area that has a pretty amazing nig to rent ratio. I’m ok here, but paying rent is gay if you can avoid it.

@john_darksoul really can't stay with immediate or adjacent family or is everyone just short on space?

@john_darksoul if you're married, sure
if you're a bachelor, you should stay-with-family-maxx

@professionalbigot69 I can’t family max, but I agree that’s optimal if you can. I really wanted a house this year but my options are pretty mid. I’ve seen one house that I liked but it’s 50k outside of my price range. If mortgage rates dropped to 3% then I could do it. If not I’d be house broke.

@john_darksoul Rate cuts will take a while to happen, but you can ask the lender to keep the rate floating and not lock in.

@BowsacNoodle Floating rate seems dangerous. Especially if I’m already pushing out of my affordability zone.

@john_darksoul Sorry I meant on a fixed rate. Got the edit in too late. They will lock a rate or let it float for however long. Usually there's a small cost in points that it might credit bank to you if you're not locking in a rate on application.
