     I haven't dumped all the BND/BMBF/OKFN/ISD stuff on you yet? I had just kind of assumed; I'll CC you if I see more tendrils. The "Hydra on the Web" paper is interesting in that they effectively admit to using NetzDG as a pretext.

     They seem mostly interested in US politics. (Sorry, I mean the "rise of global fascism".) I think this is intentional.
     
     The US drone-strikes a wedding, babies on fire, Pakistan rattles their sabre and nothing changes. The deal is actually that they give the US impunity to fly the drones and drop bombs, as long as we let them pick some of the targets. (It's been an open secret since the diplomatic cable leak, but media outlets in the US are happy to prop up the fiction.) So they put on a show, and that's probably the best indicator that they picked that target and are feigning outrage.
     
     I think the situation with foreign intelligence agencies is the same. They trade information specifically to avoid problems with jurisdiction: the CIA isn't allowed to bother US citizens and the FBI has to go through red tape, but if the BND bothers a citizen as a favor to the US government and they share that, what does a US citizen do about that? Likewise, what are you going to do if someone in Ft. Meade tries to use a 0day on your machine? And if they were doing it because they were requested by the BND, is the German government going to even slap them on the wrist?
     
     So the NATO stuff and the gasoline sales and the Nordstream and the Bundesdammerung officials' monocles popping out, right? If this is the subtext then it makes a little more sense.

     Is there any real connection between PeerTube and the Fediverse, besides both being likely to be used by certain subsets of people??
