   ❔ does anyone have a resource for writing fediverse software? i am reading through activity pub but there is obviously a lot that isn't necessary, + custom stuff (like reacts) that we added ontop of it. something that breaks down what needs to be implemented to be a basic software, without me having to dig through akkoma source would be nice. 🔁 would be nice

     don't forget to also read https://www.w3.org/TR/activitystreams-core/ and https://www.w3.org/TR/json-ld/, they're required if you're making your own implementation from scratch
     
     but not to be a downer, but the ActivityPub spec isn't very useful, and half of what it says is never implemented or is outright ignored in practice

     (i see april replied to you earlier, she and I both work on fediverse/ActivityPub software, asking her about stuff if you're stuck is a good idea)
     
     (also you will be reading a LOT of source code from Akkoma, Mastodon and Misskey, so get ready for that)

     @jessew yeah im noticing that which is why i wondered if a pruned version was anywhere. i dont necessarily love the idea of just doing shit on akkoma and marking what it does but i guess that's what im doing lol

     @jessew yeah im currently reading "honk" which is a cli implementation in GO for some of the most basic stuff at the moment, because i am fore-going a front-end anyways (at least for now). appreciate the help
