    > If you're firing into the crowd and you get shot back you've lost right to complain.

    And what I am saying is that scraping is an act. If I'm taking down someone's site by scraping them, and someone takes down FSE by scraping it, then I have no right to complain. The scraping is incidental: if I DDoS someone and the same person kills FSE by scraping it, I don't have a right to complain. On the other hand, someone that isn't party to that dispute seeing that and assuming it's fine to drop either person's netblock (because, regardless of why they did something, they both did it) is looking for an easy justification.

    If someone is trying to eliminate FSE, and they do it by scraping, the scraping doesn't matter: the end they were going for (maybe they hate :liberty: freedom :eagle911:) isn't relevant, but the means (eliminating FSE) do matter. Whatever they use to do it is just a mechanical thing: it's not important. If they are doing it with "callous disregard" (to borrow a legal term) for FSE's continued existence, then whatever they were doing is something I can object to. If I were trying to eliminate someone, I couldn't complain that they eliminated me, sure, but dear God, it doesn't matter if they used a knife or a gun. Scraping is just scraping.

    So, if you really want to go for that, explain on what grounds you think scraping is immoral.

      @p @icedquinn @miscbrains There are people who think scraping is on its own immoral? (I'm not reading all that tbh)

      @NEETzsche @icedquinn @miscbrains miscbrains is moonlighting as Satan's lawyer. I think it's a bad argument, he thinks I don't understand the argument.

      @p@fsebugoutzone.org @NEETzsche@iddqd.social @icedquinn@blob.cat I don't have the full force of half a bottle of rye + a buncha cider in me. So I'm fine to let it drop. I was percolating an idea in my convalescence the next day and the concept formed:
      Schroedinger's victim.

      However my gumption is not "up", so it'll have to wait until next time. Or never.
