     I think boosting puts the post on the timeline of followers, but mentioning someone gives sends them a notification.
     Of course, it is also possible that I am just wrong.

     This is the difference. In German you just invent it on the fly and it immediately is a word. We just come up with new ones sentence by sentence ;-)
